About managing screens

In this guide, we'll cover all the most popular screen editing functionalities. It's a wonderful guide to skim through, especially if you've just started using Uizard! ๐Ÿš€

What is a screen? A 'Screen', more technically referred to as an 'Artboard', is the frame or page in which you create your user interface designs:

Creating a new screen

In Uizard you can create a new screen as follows:

1) Go to your project and click 'Screens' on the right-hand menu or use the keyboard shortcut 'N':

2) Click 'Add new screen' on the bottom menu:

Renaming a screen

You'd simply need to double-click on the screen name, which is shown above the screen or in the 'Screens overview' menu. Here is how you can change the name of a screen:

1) Double-click the name above the screen.

2) Type in the name you'd like for your screen.

3) Alternatively, you can click the screen's name, click the three dots for more options, and then click 'Rename':

Setting a home screen

The home screen is a starting point of your projects when you enter the 'Preview mode', which is why it's important to know that you can always change your home screen as follows:

1) Click on the screen's name.

2) Click on the three dots to find more options and then click 'Set as home screen':

Rearranging screens

To reorder, move, or rearrange screens, simply select them one by one with a left click of your mouse and drag and drop them to your desired arrangement on the canvas:

Changing to landscape mode

If you'd like to switch a screen to landscape mode in your design, please follow the steps below:

1) Click on the screen that you'd like to put in landscape mode in the editor:

2) Click the button that looks like a phone moving sideways under "Device":


Changing a screen device type

1) Click the screen you'd like to change the device type of:

2) Click on the drop-down menu under "Device":

3) Choose which device you'd like to switch to:


Duplicating screens

1) Select the screen you want to duplicate by left-clicking it with your mouse.

2) Use the standard shortcuts for copy-paste:

Copy - 'Cmd' or 'Ctrl' + 'C'

Paste - 'Cmd' or 'Ctrl' + 'V'

Alternatively, you can click on your screen's name, then click on the three dots to get more options, and then click 'Duplicate.'

Changing a screen's color or background color

To change the color of a screen, you can follow these simple steps:

1) Select the screen you want to change the color of:

2) Look for the 'Screen Color' section in the right-hand design menu.

3) Edit the color by selecting the first circle to choose a color with Color Picker or you can select one of the recommended colors:

4) The screen color will change to the color you selected.


Deleting a screen

1) Click on the name of your screen.

2) Next, click on the three dots for more options and then 'Delete':


Dimensions of project screens

Uizard uses standard dimensions. For mobile projects, this is 375x667 pixels, for tablet projects, it is 768 x 1024 pixels and for the desktop format, it is 1440x900 pixels.


Changing a screen's dimension or size

Currently, you can only change the height dimension of your screen, not the width. Here's how you can do this:

1) Click the screen that you'd like to adjust the height of:

2) Look at the Design menu on the right-hand side and find the"height" box under "Size" and adjust it to your liking:


Making a screen scrollable

It's easy to enable scrolling for your previews! Here's how:

1) Select a screen you want to be scrollable (by left-clicking it with your mouse).

2) Pull down the lower handle to elongate the screen.

Elongated screens will automatically be scrollable when viewed in 'Preview mode':

Showing/hiding device frames

1) Click on the screen you want to hide the device frame for or select all screens by using the keyboard shortcut 'CMD' or 'CTRL' + 'A' to select all screens.

2) You can then choose whether to show device frames or hide device frames in the Design menu by clicking on the switch marked in the screenshot below:

FAQs

Is there a way to make the screen scroll horizontally?

There isn't an option at this time to make a design scroll horizontally.

Is there an iPhone 14 screen size?

We don't have an iPhone 14 screen size. We use standard sizes. For mobile projects, this is 375x667 pixels. Please note that you can change the height of the screen, but not the width.

Changing the height of the screen past standard dimensions will make it scrollable.

Is there a smartwatch screen option?

At this time, there is not a smartwatch screen option. However, we're always looking at making improvements!

What is the maximum screen height?

The maximum screen height at this time is 10000px. If you need to add anything beyond this, you would need to add it onto an additional screen.
